What is CGC?
Cambridge Global Conversations is a discussion platform based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. We seek to discuss and disseminate those problems that lie beyond the capacity for individual nation states (or even small groups of nation states) to resolve. Thought leaders from across the generations are brought together to share and promote insights that help to illuminate problems and guide human responses to complex global challenges.
What Global Issues will CGC Cover?
Cambridge Global Conversations is aimed at global issues that require international cooperation as well as individual, corporate, national, and political engagement and understanding. Our first event is on Climate Change, but we are also interested in areas of existential risk - such as Artificial Intelligence, Genome Editing, Nuclear Weapons etc. In addition, CGC will focus on other areas that involve global governance and improved civic awareness and engagement - including International Trade, Digital Life, Big Data, and more.
These are complex, multi-layered questions that affect everyone. CGC’s aim is to bring important insights about these issues to a wide audience, while furthering exchange and understanding.
Our first event, on the Ethical Issues Surrounding Climate Change, took an in depth look at the Impacts, Solutions, and Problems with Climate Change through the lens of ethical thinking. You can find out more about CGC#1: Climate Ethics here.
